About the Client:
The client, a fiberglass manufacturing giant, wanted to learn about post-consumer recycled polypropylene (PCR PP), which they were interested in using for the manufacturing of packaging for their products.
Challenge:
In this Research Support Service Project, the client wanted to gain insight into the PCR PP industry, including suppliers, best practices in the space, and other relevant information. Critical to this engagement was knowing the environmental and cost benefits, volume of PCR PP available in the market, how it compared to the polypropylene used in their process, and how they could incorporate it.
Approach:
PreScouter addressed the challenge by using different sources of information such as market reports to understand the volume and company websites to profile potential suppliers. Further research into shortlisted companies revealed their capabilities to provide exact volumes, technical specifications, and costs. Subject Matter Experts were consulted for insights on how to incorporate the PCR PP stream into the client’s production.
Outcome:
PreScouter provided an extensive overview of the PCR PP space and correlated this to the client’s objectives. Recommendations on potential suppliers and how to incorporate PCR PP into the manufacturing process were also provided to the client.
