About the client:
The client is a supplier of construction, mobility, and industrial materials. They inquired to understand the factors inhibiting the broader adoption of electrochemical technology in hydrogen compressors.
Challenge:
The client engaged PreScouter in this Research Support Service project to examine the barriers impacting the adoption of electrochemical technology in hydrogen compressors, including economic factors, development of catalysts, and integration issues with existing infrastructure. They sought PreScouter’s help to gain insights into this market and assist them in entering it.
Approach:
PreScouter initiated the research by identifying global technologies and suppliers for hydrogen electrochemical compression. The PreScouter team conducted detailed interviews with four company representatives and six subject matter experts to understand the dynamics and challenges of the hydrogen compression market, the roles of value chain players, and comparative market analysis.
Outcome:
PreScouter provided the client with a detailed overview of the current supply chain for electrochemical hydrogen compressors (EHCs) and profiled 13 companies. The PreScouter team outlined key and new players, detailed the main challenges limiting the scale-up of this technology, and identified potential markets beyond hydrogen compression. The client was recommended strategic partnerships and potential applications to focus on based on the information gathered.
