About the client:
The client is a major medical device company. They engaged PreScouter to create an understanding of future global chemical regulations that could impact their manufacturing processes and, eventually, medical device portfolio.
Challenge:
The goal of this research support service project was to identify:
- Potential red flags in regulations
- Alternative materials that could circumvent potential issues with regulations
Approach:
PreScouter conducted extensive secondary research into the global regulatory landscape for chemicals used in the client’s portfolio. The team also talked to subject matter experts in the chemical regulatory space to capture any trends and future regulations and to confirm hypotheses formed in the secondary research phase.
Outcome:
Over the course of 8 intelligence briefs, PreScouter interviewed over 20 regulatory experts from 12 different countries. The team analyzed over 1,900 regulatory instances and mapped the regulatory landscape for 19 countries. In addition, the PreScouter team identified 92 chemical alternatives and 163 suppliers and performed a deep dive on one of the alternatives.
Impact of PreScouter’s work:
PreScouter affirmed that the client’s portfolio would not be directly affected by any of the future regulatory changes.
