About the Client:
A leading service provider to the mining industry wanted to understand remote surveying and assessing technologies and how the information they provide could be used to support the operation of products or the development of new functionalities to provide additional efficiency opportunities in comminution and mill circuit processes.
Challenge:
The Client came to PreScouter to achieve these key objectives:
- Understanding of surveying and assessing technologies and their applications in the field
- Use models and adoption rates of these technologies throughout the mining sector
- Description of the supporting service industry providing each technology along with its growth and future opportunities
Approach:
PreScouter identified existing products and services for surveying and assessing ore grades, segmented into imaging, mineralogical and elemental analyzers, and analytics platforms. Focusing on existing market-ready products/services, PreScouter then highlighted for each:
- A technology description
- The maturity of the technology according to the TRL scale
- The type of data generated from an operational element and the resolution of that data, looking at the development of block models from these operators and how this resolution can be increased using new technologies
- Partnerships and collaborations with industry and academia
Outcome:
PreScouter recommended targeting the development of a new modular analytics platform and outlined concrete next steps to take to develop this system. In addition, PreScouter highlighted key partners and ways to accelerate this development path for the Client team.
